ABOUT US
Governance • Risk • Compliance • Ethics — Thinking Differently
At The Compliance Academy (TCA) we believe that true compliance goes beyond rules and regulations — it is a way of thinking, leading, and operating. We help organisations embed governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) as strategic enablers of ethical performance, sustainable growth, and stakeholder trust.
Founded and led by Julie Methven, a recognised authority on governance and compliance across Africa, TCA bridges the gap between international best practice and local relevance. Our work is grounded in King IV, ISO 37000 (Governance of Organizations), and ISO 37301 (Compliance Management Systems) — but our philosophy is simple: compliance is not about ticking boxes, it’s about doing what’s right, consistently and transparently.
We support boards, executives, and compliance professionals to build systems, cultures, and leadership behaviours that drive principled performance. Whether through board evaluations, governance diagnostics, compliance framework design, or tailored director training, we partner with clients to strengthen ethical leadership and accountability across every level of the organisation.
At The Compliance Academy, we are shaping a future where governance and compliance are not obstacles to progress, but catalysts for trust, innovation, and long-term value creation.
At The Compliance Academy, we offer a structured pathway for professionals seeking to enhance their governance, risk, and compliance expertise through internationally recognised ISO and management system qualifications. Our training programmes are delivered by certified industry experts and align with PECB international certification standards.. Email info@thecompliance.academy for more information.

At The Compliance Academy, we help boards and executive teams build organisations that lead with integrity, purpose, and accountability. Our governance services are designed to move boards beyond compliance — toward ethical leadership, strategic oversight, and sustainable performance.
Drawing on internationally recognised frameworks such as King IV, ISO 37000 (Governance of Organisations), and the IFC Corporate Governance Methodology, we provide practical, evidence-based solutions that strengthen governance effectiveness at every level.
We conduct independent, evidence-based assessments of board and committee effectiveness. Our evaluations assess structure, performance, culture, and behaviours — identifying strengths, development needs, and opportunities for greater strategic impact.
We design and implement governance frameworks, board charters, and policy suites aligned with best practice and organisational strategy. Our goal is to ensure clarity of roles, accountability, and ethical decision-making across all levels of governance.
We provide tailored training for directors and executives on topics such as King IV, fiduciary duties, governance of ethics, risk oversight, and compliance culture. Programmes are practical, context-driven, and designed to build governance capacity and confidence.
Using benchmarked assessment tools, we evaluate the organisation’s governance maturity and recommend actionable steps for continuous improvement — ensuring that governance systems evolve with organisational growth and emerging global standards.
We support organisations in embedding principle-based compliance, building ethics frameworks, and developing codes of conduct that translate values into everyday practice.
Our governance advisory approach integrates independence, insight, and impact — helping boards translate governance ideals into measurable performance. We combine global expertise with deep local understanding to ensure that governance solutions are both internationally aligned and organisationally relevant.
